DVD+RW/+R (and perhaps DVD-RW/-R) support

Note: DVD support is now part of CDWserver Pro

Non-GPL Linux trial version

Since webCDwriter 2.4.1 there is a special CDWserver binary with DVD+RW/+R support available for Linux. It uses the dvd+rw-tools written by Andy Polyakov to add files to a DVD+RW. I use it with a Ricoh MP5125A to store files and DVD image files on a DVD+RW. Even writing the directory structure of a video DVD seems to be ok.

Do you have a DVD-RW/-R drive? There is hope that this will work, too. Simply ignore the "+" in webCDcreator. If you run into problems with this, you may contact the author for support.

Note: This is just a trial version. The session size is limited to 100 MB. If you want to write larger sessions, get the unrestricted version.

Installation instructions

  1. Install webCDwriter 2.5.2
  2. Install the dvd+rw-tools 5.2.4.1.4 or above. You may use
    $ sh tar2rpm.sh dvd+rw-tools-5.4.4.3.4.tar.gz

    to build a RPM for your system.
    Note: SuSE Linux 8.2 fails to compile the dvd+rw-tools 5.2.4.1.4 to 5.5.4.3.4. You may use this dvd+rw-tools-5.5.4.3.4-1.i386.rpm instead.
    Note: The dvd+rw-tools-5.11.4.6.4 will not work!
  3. Download CDWserver-DVD+RW100MB-2.5.2.sh (374773 bytes)
    md5sum: d5b9bf8addb9bc682f865124ff8e72a7
  4. Run
    $ sh CDWserver-DVD+RW100MB-2.5.2.sh

    This will replace the CDWserver of webCDwriter and start the new one.
